Substitute – Teacher/classroom Assistant

Primary Purpose of the Position:nnTo support individual students with their learning and development throughout the day and to promote a safe and engaging experience in the classroom. nnMain Duties and Responsibilities:nnWorking with the classroom teacher to support all children in the class.nAssisting with lesson preparation and classroom set-up. nReviewing lesson material with students individually or in small groups when needed.nEnsuring a safe and clean classroom environment.nSupervising students during non-classroom times, including in between classes, during lunch, during recess, and on field trips.nCollaborating with classroom teachers to recognize student challenges and recommending solutions.nComplying with school and class rules.nnKnowledge, Skills, and Abilities:nnExcellent English communication skills, both written and verbal. nGreat organization and planning skills.nThe ability to collaborate and work in a team. nThe ability to engage students of all learning and grade levels.nIn-depth knowledge of relevant class material. nKnowledge of best pedagogical practices.nnPersonal Attributes:nnPatience.nEmpathy.nCompassion.nA positive and encouraging attitude.
